This week we have started to read the book

‘Car, car, Truck, Jeep’.

This is one of the beautifully illustrated books, linked to our phonics program Little Wandle.

The careful planning of this books allows multiple opportunities to read and engage the children with the text e.g.

Give ‘language development opportunities’, by pulling out key verbs and nouns for us to explore like.

Allows us to ‘Connect to the book’ through nursery rhymes, action songs, poems and songs that link to the text. This provides opportunities for children to develop a rich repertoire of these rhymes and songs, which will support language development and enjoyment.

Give opportunities to explore the sensory aspects of the texts, including activities  for children to engage with their senses.

The book is sung along to the tune of Baa, Baa, black sheep, and so far, we have read the book and looked at the key verbs (action words),

made actions to go with them, engaging the children to know words and their meaning in context.

Next week we will be exploring the nouns (a naming word) and bringing the book to life by asking the children to join in with the sound words, e.g. “honk, honk” and “choo choo” and actions.

Have a lovely weekend!
