This week in DT we have been learning about pavilions.
A pavilion is a decorative building or structure for
leisure activities.
A pavilion is a flexible, architectural open, closed or
semi-open space that invites people to come in and spend time in it.
It could be a temporary or permanent and might even
change its form and function.
A pavilion might be used for shelter, seating,
exhibitions, sports, play, a meeting point, café, theatre, and a whole lot
more!
We constructed frame structures using the toothpicks and
plasticine.
We made sure that structure is able to stand on its own and not
topple over.
We explored making basic geometric structures.
We Created shapes that are strong and sturdy such as pyramids. We explored and created larger structures from these materials, considering aesthetics, strength and stability.
We discovered that corner triangles is a good idea in our construction. We used straws and cello tape to make our structure. Here are some pictures of our structures.
