This week, as part of our topic 'Sensational seasons' we have been learning  about the wind.

Wind is the movement of air near Earth's surface.

In English we read the book

 'The Wind Blew'

The wind blew, and blew, and blew! It blew so hard, it took everything with it: Mr. White’s umbrella, Priscilla’s balloon, the twins’ scarves, even the wig on the judge’s head. But just when the wind was about to carry everything out to sea, it changed its mind!

The children did some super writing about different parts of the story.

In child initiated learning time, the children got very creative and made some different things that you would need to 'wind' to move.

Windsocks...

kites...

planes...

In the outdoor environment we put windmills...

scarves and kites...

and books about the wind for the children to read and explore.

In topic we learnt about 'Tornados'-  A tornado is a giant tube of wind which spins violently.

A tornado can be dangerous because  the wind is so strong it can cause harm to people and buildings.

The children drew some great pictures with tornadoes in.

Have a great weekend
