Inspirational 'engineers'
In Reception, we have been reading the book 'An Engineer Like Me'.
This book has inventive illustrations and an empowering story combine to introduce young readers to the world of engineering, creative thinking and problem-solving.
An engineer is someone who designs and creates things.
We learnt what the words 'Gravity' and 'Force' means and put them on our WOW word wall.
Gravity is the force that attracts a body towards the centre of the earth. Pushing/pulling and resistance are forces.
We followed the instructions to create our 'egg drop' devices.
We went outside and tested to see what would happen if we dropped the egg from 2/3 different heights. We noticed that the higher we dropped the egg, the egg cracks however, if the egg is dropped from a shorter height the egg does not crack.
